BCCI to Increase Test Players' Salaries: ₹15 Lakh for a Match Currently; Likely Hike Post IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to raise the fees for its test-playing cricketers. Currently, players receive 15 lakhs for playing a Test match.

According to reports from Indian Express, the fees for Test matches are expected to increase after the IPL. Players receive 6 lakhs for one-day internationals (ODIs) and 3 lakhs for T20 matches.

Draft Prepared to Increase Fees for Red Ball Cricket

BCCI has prepared a draft to increase players' fees. If the plan is approved in the next meeting, contracted players of BCCI will receive salaries according to the new structure. Reports indicate that the BCCI at the SCO level has drafted proposals aimed at boosting incentives to encourage participation in red-ball cricket.

Players receive 15 lakhs for playing a Test match in India.

Several players engaged in T20 cricket

Recently, BCCI warned players included in the central contract that if they are fit and not part of the national team, they must play domestic cricket. Despite this, players like Ishan Kishan, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Chahar did not play Ranji Trophy matches for their states.

Ishan, Krunal, and Chahar started preparing for the IPL in February. Ishan plays for the Mumbai Indians, Pandya for the Lucknow Super Giants, and Chahar for the Chennai Super Kings.

Bonus for Playing All Test Series in a Year

BCCI officials told Indian Express, "The new salary structure could be implemented after the IPL. If a player plays all the Test series with the team in a year, they will also receive a bonus." They will be given money in addition to their annual salary and match fees

These initiatives are undertaken to stimulate heightened player engagement in red-ball cricket, thereby prioritizing the advancement of Test cricket players.

Players playing all Test series in a year will also receive a bonus.
