The regular captain of Bangladesh's cricket team, Shakib Al Hasan, has excelled in politics, winning his maiden election with 1.5 lakh votes. Shakib will keep playing cricket since he has shown his abilities on the field, even after going into politics. With a sizable vote, he was elected to the Magura parliamentary seat in the western town of Magura. Shakib is now not playing for the Bangladesh cricket team since he refrained from going to New Zealand during the election campaign. While leading Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India last year, Shakib began talking about retiring.

In his nation's legislative elections, Shakib Al Hasan—who has led Bangladesh in all three formats—was successful in securing a place in parliament. With a landslide victory, Shakib took over the western town of Magura's parliamentary seat. Shakib hasn't responded to this yet, though.
Interestingly, Shakib had declared victory earlier. He predicted that no one would be able to oppose him even before the elections, and the same thing really transpired. With around 1.5 lakh votes more than his opponent, Shakib prevailed. Shakib is currently not a member of the Bangladesh cricket squad. He had refrained from going on the election campaign tour in New Zealand.
