Real Madrid and Barcelona rest starters in Liga wins ahead of clashes with Man City and PSG

Before matches against Man City and PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona rested their starters in their Liga victories.



Spain's Barcelona (AP) On Saturday, Real Madrid and Barcelona defeated Barcelona on the road in the Spanish league while resting key players for their separate matches against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.


After winning 1-0 in Cadiz, league leader Madrid defeated Mallorca 1-0 to maintain an eight-point advantage over Barcelona. After their matches in Europe's top league, the two dominant Spanish teams will square off the next weekend.  



Three minutes after halftime, Aurélien Tchouaméni of Madrid scored the lone goal against Mallorca.


After a 3-3 tie in the Spanish capital this week, Madrid will travel to City on Wednesday with their quarterfinal match set to begin.

We faced City in a really tough game, and we know that when we play for Madrid, we have to give it everything we have, even when we are exhausted," Tchouaméni remarked.
Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Júnior filled in for the last 30 minutes. Toni Kroos and Rodrygo never came off the bench, but Dani Carvajal played on for the last few minutes. Jude Bellingham began, and Camavinga took over.


Barcelona defeated relegation-threatened Cadiz with a goal from João Félix, but Xavi Hernández rested numerous times in preparation for Tuesday's home encounter against PSG.
Raphinha barely played the last ten minutes at Cadiz, despite scoring twice in Barcelona's 3-2 victory in Paris. Mallorca participated in its first match since its penalty-filled loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final the previous weekend. It persisted. in position fifteen.

Antoine Griezmann netted two goals. as Atletico Madrid improved its hopes of placing in the top four with a 3-1 victory against Girona.


Griezmann converted a penalty kick following a handball by Girona to score his first league goal since December. Artem Dovbyk's early opening was neutralized by his equalizer in the 34th.
Álvaro Morata's quick thinking was crucial in giving the home team the lead in stoppage time of the first half. He tracked down a ball before it crossed the finish line and flicked it into the area where Ángel Correo scored with a header into the top corner.


Then, in the 50th, Griezmann—Atletico's all-time leading scorer—blasted in a loose ball for his 13th league goal of the year.


With his 17th goal, Dovbyk gave Girona the lead in the fourth minute and overtook Bellingham as the league's top scorer. Atletico stayed in fourth place, four points ahead of Girona in third. Athletic Bilbao dropped to fifth place, trailing Atletico by five points. The Champions League spots for the next season are awarded to Spain's top four finishers.


Griezmann declared, "We want to be in the Champions League next season. We could turn things around after confronting them, even though we didn't start well.
After winning the first leg 2-1 in Spain, Atletico travels to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday as the front-runners in their Champions League quarterfinal.
At home, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe also drew 0-0.
